-Evaluation Planning-

I decided to explain to myself what each question was asking me to do and what i should include in my answers.

-Logo Research-

I have noticed that RnB artists do not really have proper logos. But what they do have is consistency. Their artist name has always been the same but nowadays more developed but surely still the same. Here are some examples:










I want my font to be like these artists, the writing looks personalised to their style like i want mine to be. I need to make sure my font is up to date with modern society as the albums on the left are past albums and the ones on the right are recent.

So i want my font will be my logo.

What i did was, i went on a font website (dafont) and i found a font called Bizarre which looks like Rihanna's font that she consistently uses. I decided that i could put my artists initials on top of each other to give a logo that is small recognisable and different. I also experimented with my original font Madamoiselle Camille which is a swirly skinny font which looks sophisticatedly soft.

These are my ideas that i have come up with. After close deliberation, i chose my original font Mademoiselle Camille to do the initials for my artist. However i edited the font by taking away all of the swirly bits so that it is easy to read and personalised to my artist. 

-Reflect-

More calender dates.

After close reflection, i have come to the conclusion that i need to re shoot both my artist and both my actors. i was absolutely not happy with the way the first shoot went with both of them. With my artist i need to have her in more shots and with my actors i need to get more shots getting closer and closer when the boy is asking the girl for her number. The shot is too long and you cannot see him getting the number, all you can see is them two standing there and having some type of interaction.

I have arranged to reshoot. 

-Clothing-

For the boy in my music video, the first outfit i would like him to wear is basketball wear which consists of a vest top and some shorts. The second outfit will be a shirt with jeans. Then at the end, the outfit will go back to the basketball wear but different. However it doesn't really matter what he is wearing as boys tend to just hang out in whatever they feel comfortable in.

For the girl in my music video, the first outfit will be worn at the start when she sees the boy playing basketball. The second outfit will be used as she is talking to the boy on the phone and the third outfit will be near the end when she is with the boy.

I used the website Polyvore to create these outfits which may change because it all depends on what my artist and actors already have which is what i will work with.


These clothing ideas help me organise what i would like my actors to look like.

-Production 4-

Planning Music Video Shoot Schedule

I made another schedule to help me know how to structure my music video shoot. I had to check the availability of my artist and my actors. I needed to do this as i need to make sure that everyone is free and have no prior plans. I needed to tell them my plans so that they do not turn up with no idea of what i am asking them to do. Then i filmed my artist singing the song and then my actors acting out the boy and girl scenes. 

-Location & Costume-

The location for this Digipack will be at my school, in the drama room. I wanted it to be in the drama room as the walls are painted black which will make my artist stand out with whatever she wears. The room as special lighting as performances are held there so my staging should be good. It has chairs that I can use and stools that my artist can sit and pose on.

I was thinking to do the photos for my Digipak somewhere outside but i thought that because of the weather (windy and cold) I wouldnt be able to capture my artists facial expressions like i want to so inside was the best choice as it is more reliable for me to get some decent shots for my Digipak.

These are some of my clothing ideas that i believe will work for an RnB artist.

The first one is of a dress which i quite different than a normal RnB artist dress. I decided to make it shorter and cuter than extravagant and boot heels. The second outfit is of a nice skirt with a crop top and low shoes. The third outfit is of a long lace skirt with a crop top to show my artists shape with heels. And lastly, a pink dress with heels.

-Production 3-

Planning Digipak Schedule

I had to make sure that my artist was available for me to take the pictures of her. We practised taking photos with one outfit. Then another with another outfit and then another with the final outfit. I then had to review the pictures and pic the ones that i liked and could use in my Digipak. Then the following day i had to start to edit my photos on Photoshop Elements. Then i had to start to think about shooting my music video footage that was soon approaching.

-Planning my Artist-

I made this page to sum up with i want my artist to be and have. I included my album name (Upgrade) and my track listing of all of the songs i want on the album. Influences for my artist. I also put some of the lyrics of the song Fantasia When I See You which is my music video song.

-Artist Ideas-

These are some of my ideas that i have for my artist. This brainstorm helped me to make
a decision on what qualities I want for my artist. This is also where I brainstormed my artists name. I have a few which i came up with and I have narrowed them down to Mila Scott or Shannelle Williams. I like them both but i need to decide what one sounds better, would look better on a screen and what would suit the face of my artist best.

-Pitch & Feed Back-

This is my audience profile. It is a brief description of what my artist is aiming for and what the type of people my artist have are like. I have added my mood board in with it to give a feel of my artist. I have a synopsis of what my music video will contain. My story board is included as well. Goodwin's Elements are explained and questioned. 

Animatic

I made my Animatic with my story board in sync to the beat and how i want the pace and feel of the music video to be. This is essential so that i can see what the music video is going to look like by the stills.

Feedback Sheet

I showed my class my pitch and they gave me some feedback on what i am doing right, what they liked and what i could improve:

What is working well so far is that i have the RnB genre evident, i have used Goodwins elements good and my narrative is clear. Things that i need to develop is to include the record label. And things that i need to work on is the location shot and first shoot.

-Story Board-

This is my idea of what I would like to produce as my music video.

The first page is the starting of the music video opening with the opening credits and the opening of my artist as she is about to start singing her song. The second page shoes that we see our actors that i want to have inn my music video and then it goes back to the artist as the audience need to be reminded that it is the artist that is singing the song.

The third page shows the second bit of the music video where it is building up to the phone scene where the boy and girl actors are having a cute phone conversation. The fourth page is alternating between the artist and the actors.

The fifth page is still alternating between the artist and the actors but the last scene is of the actors together. The last page is the ending of the music video, the actors are together and the artist is the last to be shown as she is singing in her music video.
