Goodwin’s theory was used in my music video to an extent. The first element of Goodwin’s theory is the music and lyrics. This means that the music and lyrics can correlate with each other but they do not have to. In my music video I used this element wherethe lyrics goes ‘your the number one topic on the phone’ I edited my music video footage for the girl and the boy to be on the phone as the lyrics states having a real conversation with each other. I did this so that the audience feels like they are engaging in the journey with the boy and the girl. Next is music and visuals. I tried to make the editing of the footage in beat with the music which means that I have a lot of cuts in the music video which I can say that it is somewhat synchronous. The music and visuals also have good pacing as every time the beat came, I tried to cut the footage to a different one to give a range of shots. I do not have that much close ups of my artist but I have a lot of mid close ups which shows off my artists features and performance. Typically this is done to show the personality of the artist. It also shows the character that the artist has to play as they are lip syncing. My music video has voyeurism as we are looking in the female’s perspective as she is looking at the boy playing basketball and as the boy briefly looks at the girl. The male gaze theory by Mulvey is shown as second half of the music video you can clearly see my artist’slegs and her lace top of my artist which might be appealing to the man. For the intertexual reference, everyone can relate to a relationship of some sort, whether it is romantic or not, everything happens in stages like my music video. Most people who are in a relationship probably started off first meeting and getting contact numbers, then meeting up, then getting closer then lastly in a proper committed romantic relationship. My costume for my actors was to be causal clothing as it wouldn’t make sense for them to be all dressed up considering my narrative of them being teenagers and to be getting together. I wanted my artist to wear a dress but not an extravagant one as I always had a light Rnb artist in my mind. I mean that she is not interested in all of the extravagant things but more interested in her music which is reflected I her choice of clothing. I challenged the costume, money and cars conventions of an Rnb music video but successfully applied jewerly and make up. The second half of the music video I told my artist to wear a skirt with a white lace top as my theme changed from purple to red, white and black. My music video has a clear narrative of a boy and girl in three different stages of becoming boyfriend and girlfriend. Some of the scenes like he basketball one, I was influenced by J.Cole Work it Out where he has a basketball scene. The influence of the record label was to show off the image of my artist by using elements of Goodwin’s Theory. I applied most of Goodwin’s elements into my music video with my own ideas and style by capturing the footage and directing to my artist ad actors exactly what I wanted. Overall my music video was a success as I took into consideration all of my influences and Goodwin’s elements.

-Social Media Feedback-

When i finished my music video, what i did was, i asked a couple of people to watch it and tell me what they liked about it what they didnt like about it and what i could improve for my music video. These were the responses that i got.

These comments are good to tell  me what i did right and what i did wrong. They are right i should have directed the facial expressions of the girl playing the artist. And the actors should have been more flirty but i couldn't force them to do anything they were not comfortable doing. However i should have been more strict on what i wanted.

-Evaluation Planning-

I decided to explain to myself what each question was asking me to do and what i should include in my answers.

-Edit of Music Video-

I added more cuts like i said i needed to do. I also took away some transitions so that the cuts were more noticeable but when the artist went into the narrative then that s where i put the cross dissolve transition in.

-Final Poster-

This is the final poster

-Final Digipak-

This is the final product of my Digipak

-3rd Draft of music video-

This is the third draft of my music video.  have watched it and it htonk that some of the shots were too long but that can be fixed with different shots and more cuts.

FEEDBACK

My postitive feedback was the use of some Goodwins theory, narrative, split screens, cinematography. However i still got some negagtive feedback which was the lip syncing and the sliightly long shots which i had planned to cut. I will try and cut the footage even more to the beat and try and get the lip syncing even more accurately.

-Editing of 3rd Draft Music Video-

As i said. I re-shot with my artist wearing something white to go with the theme. She had more make up on to add to her genre. Her hair has changed as in typical rnb music videos, the female artists hair normally changes more than once which i have also done.
These screenshots are of me editing all of the footage together. I was a challenge but i feel like i am on my way to completing the music video.

As you can see, i have a lot of footage in my music timeline. i believe i have enough footage for a complete music video

-Change of plan Digipak-

This is the process of me changing the color from purple to Red. i also made the pictures lighter by adjusting the brightness and contract of the pictures.

-Change of plan Poster-

I started to notice that the purple was not working as nothing in this project was purple. i wanted to incorporate purple somewhere but that didnt work out. Instead i looked closely and found out that i still do have a colour theme even though it was not purple. It was Red, White and Black. All throughout my music video i see Red and Black, in the digipaks i see White and Black. So what i did was put some Red onto the White and Black and i am thinking of re-shooting half of my music video and make my artist wear something White so the music video can be Red, Black and White like the digipak and poster linking them all together as one.
As you can see, i replaced the purple bits with Red.
I also changed where i placed the album name which looks better than where it was before.

-1st Draft of Poster-

This is my first draft of my poster. i can already see that the social network logos are too big while the website is too small on the poster. I can also see that the artists logo cannot be seen properly either. However i like the way that the digipak is places in line with the background wall which i did on purpose. The White font does well against the Black background. I need to change those minor issues including the placement of the album name.

-Editing of Poster-

This is step by step what i did to create my promotional poster.

I added my image
Then i put my artists name at the top
Then i added my digipak front cover to the poster
Then i added the 'out now' font to tell the audience that the digipak is available from my artist
Then i put the date that the digipak is out
Then i put all of the social network logos that audiences are most familiar with like twitter, facebook and instagram
Lastly what i did was put the album name
I had trougble picking a place where the album name should go. This is where i chose to put it so far but i will change it as it looks like it has been printed on her skirt which i do not want.
